Efforts to Strengthen the Manufacturing Industry Should Be Seen as a Sacrifice for the Nation — Says EED Director General
Adama, September 29, 2018 E.C.
A high-level consultation forum on the implementation progress and next phase of the Rural Industrialization Initiative was held with the participation of senior regional and city administration leaders and sector professionals. The discussion was organized by the Ethiopian Enterprise Development (EED).
Delivering closing remarks, Dr. Alebachew Nigussie, Director General of EED, highlighted that rural industrialization plays a critical role in advancing national development. He emphasized the importance of identifying limited resources and tirelessly working to fill existing gaps.

Dr. Alebachew underscored that overcoming resource constraints requires wisdom, persistence, and a systematic approach, and he stated that efforts made to advance the manufacturing industry should be regarded as a sacrifice made for the country. He called on implementing institutions to prepare themselves to tackle challenges that may hinder the sector’s growth.
He further instructed that, beyond establishing new manufacturing enterprises under the Rural Industrialization Initiative, it is equally important to monitor and support existing promising enterprises to ensure that their progress continues without interruption.
Dr. Alebachew also noted that such platforms strengthen ongoing efforts to expand rural industrialization, adding that the active participation of regional and city administrations is essential for the successful implementation of the initiative.

The event brought together senior officials from all regional and city administrations, initiative coordinators, and sector professionals.
