The Ethiopian Enterprise Development (EED), in collaboration with regional sector leaders, conducted a review of the six-month performance of the 2018 Fiscal Year plan in Arba Minch City.

Speaking at the review forum, Mr. Paulos Berga, Deputy Director General of Ethiopian Enterprise Development, stated that the activities planned and implemented in the small and medium manufacturing enterprise (SME) sector during the past six months are demonstrating encouraging progress. He emphasized that genuine and sustainable prosperity can only be achieved through development efforts that ensure inclusive benefits for all citizens.

Mr. Paulos further noted that continued and strengthened efforts are required in key priority areas, including workspace provision, availability of skilled human resources, input supply and market linkages, and the enhancement of coordination mechanisms. He also highlighted the importance of advancing initiatives related to the organization of manufacturing information systems (ERP) and the expansion of lease financing services to support manufacturing enterprises.

He emphasized that the small and medium manufacturing enterprise sector is expected to play a central role in driving the transformation of the manufacturing industry. Accordingly, Mr. Paulos underscored the need for regional sector leaders to provide targeted, gap-based support to manufacturing enterprises to accelerate growth and competitiveness across the sector.
