Discussion Participants Visit Elna-Tex Garment and Textile Factory
EED, January 2, 2026
Following the six-month performance review discussion conducted by the Ethiopian Enterprise Development (EED) in Arba Minch City, participants of the forum paid a visit to the recently established Elna-Tex Garment and Textile Factory, located in the city.

During the visit, participants toured the factory and observed its production processes. The owner of Elna-Tex, Ms. Alemnesh Alula, explained that the factory produces a wide range of quality garments, including uniforms, sportswear, jeans, shirts, caps, and various other apparel products, which are supplied to consumers as well as produced on a contract basis for different institutions.

Ms. Alemnesh noted that the idea to establish the factory emerged while she was working in the hotel industry, where she observed persistent challenges in accessing work wear and uniforms in the local area. Motivated to address this gap, she launched the enterprise with the dual objective of meeting local demand and creating employment opportunities for local women, particularly graduates of technical and vocational institutions in the garment sector.

Elna-Tex Garment and Textile Factory commenced operations with an initial capital investment of 32 million Ethiopian Birr. Currently, the factory has created employment opportunities for 74 citizens, including 61 women and 13 men.

Ms. Alemnesh emphasized that supporting and empowering women is essential for national development and economic progress, and she underscored the shared responsibility of all stakeholders in ensuring women become active beneficiaries of development initiatives.

The visit was attended by members of the EED management team, regional sector bureau heads and deputy heads, as well as planning experts.
