Leaders of Ethiopian Enterprise Development Leave Their Green Legacy at Qilinto Special Economic Zone

Middle and executive leaders of Ethiopian Enterprise Development (EED) gathered at the Qilinto Special Economic Zone, managed by the Industrial Parks Development Corporation, to carry out a Green Legacy tree-planting program.
Speaking at the event, EED Director General Dr. Alebachew Nigussie emphasized the importance of planting trees to combat climate change and foster a conducive environment.
The Director General added that the institution’s commitment goes beyond simply planting saplings; it includes ongoing monitoring and nurture to ensure the trees thrive and fulfill their intended purpose. He confirmed that saplings planted during a similar program last week were inspected, and necessary care is being provided.
Highlighting EED’s core mission to establish and empower small and medium manufacturing enterprises to drive national economic growth, Dr. Alebachew explained that responding to environmental protection initiatives and the national Green Legacy campaign is an integral part of the institution’s social responsibility.
Furthermore, the Director General urged all leadership and staff to fulfill their duties in executing planned winter (Kiremt) voluntary community service activities alongside their regular mandates.
In line with Ethiopia’s national initiative to build climate resilience and expand forest coverage, tree-planting efforts around industrial sites like Qilinto play a critical role in mitigating environmental pollution and fostering a green industrial ecosystem.
