
EED and Ethiopian Customs Commission Sign Joint Agreement to Sustain Special Support for Small and Medium Manufacturing Enterprises
Addis Ababa, Hidar 19, 2018 E.C. — Ethiopian Enterprise Development (EED) and the Ethiopian Customs Commission have signed a joint cooperation agreement designed to provide sustained and improved support for small and medium manufacturing enterprises (SMEs), enabling them to export their products more easily to the international market and import raw materials, machinery, and accessories efficiently.
During the signing ceremony, Mr. Abdulfeta Yesuf, Deputy Director General of EEDt, stated that the partnership aims to establish a coordinated system that will enhance the competitiveness of manufacturing enterprises. He emphasized that repeated collaboration, shared responsibility, and aligned actions between the two institutions will translate into effective and impactful results for the sector.
According to Mr. Debele Kabeta, Commissioner of the Ethiopian Customs Commission, the agreement will enable SMEs to access fast-track and priority customs services, receive timely revenue and expenditure information, and benefit from expedited services for exhibition and sample products. He added that the Commission will also provide monthly export data to EED and extend support to ensure enterprises gain maximum benefit from various incentive packages.
Both institutions affirmed their commitment to implementing the agreed activities collaboratively, with the goal of strengthening the competitiveness of small and medium manufacturing enterprises and improving service accessibility at a higher level
