EED Provides Awareness Training to Enhance Implementation of New Laws and Procedures

Adama, Pagume 04, 2017 E.C. –

The Ethiopian Enterprise Development (EED) has delivered awareness training to its leadership and staff on program-based budgeting and procurement implementation directives.

The training was facilitated by experts from the Ministry of Finance and the Federal Government Procurement and Property Authority. It focused on the principles, preparation, and management of program budgets, as well as the federal procurement implementation guidelines.

During the session, participants were informed that achieving the government’s development goals requires proper budget allocation in line with approved plans, effective execution of activities, and consistent monitoring and evaluation of performance.

It was also emphasized that procurement processes must strictly follow the government’s implementation directive. The training further addressed the roles of institutional leaders, critical considerations in procurement processes, and key responsibilities in ensuring transparency and accountability.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Alebachew Nigussie, Director General of EED, highlighted that the training was organized to ensure the effective implementation of newly introduced laws and procedures in line with EED’s mandate. He underlined that equipping leadership and staff with stronger knowledge on budgeting and procurement will enhance organizational performance.

Importantly, it was stressed that the government’s procurement directive provides significant opportunities for Small and Medium Manufacturing Enterprises (SMMEs). As such, proper support is essential to help these enterprises deliver high-quality and competitive substitute products.

Participating staff expressed that the training strengthened their understanding of budgeting and procurement directives. They also reaffirmed their commitment to executing planned activities within the allocated budget and timeframe to achieve tangible results.
