EED Leadership and Staff Hold Discussions on the National 2018 Development Plan

The leadership and staff of Ethiopian Enterprise Development (EED) held a discussion on the national development plan for the 2018 Ethiopian fiscal year.

Opening the session, the Director General, Dr. Alebachew Nigusse, emphasized that the development activities implemented in the country should be executed without delay to ensure capable of yielding international impact. He also noted that all planned actions should be carried out without hesitation to bring about the desired results.

He further stressed that, as an institution working to support small and medium manufacturing enterprises, the activities outlined in the plan must be executed with enhanced capacity and improved systems to ensure effective and impactful outcomes.

During the meeting, the 2018 national development plan was presented by EED’s Deputy Director General, Mr. Abdulfeta Yesuf.  

Mr. Abdulfeta said that the plan included critical points such as how exportable goods and services can create opportunities and impact on the global market, what contributions already made to improving the national economy and what are the preparations made for implementing development programs in the upcoming fiscal year.

The document also highlighted that focused efforts are required to implement development activities that contribute tangible results to national economic growth, such as exporting new products and expanding export destinations, attracting investment and supporting the tourism sector through national peace-building, providing efficient and digitally-supported services, enhancing national revenue, accelerating integrated infrastructure development, and promoting job creation.

In particular, the manufacturing sector was spotlighted with emphasis on developing new products for export, and expanding export destinations, improving financial and market access sustaining the “Made in Ethiopia” movement, and improving both production capacity and efficiency.

During the meeting, the 2018 plan of Ethiopian Enterprise Development was presented and discussed.
